Betty Young

Betty Lou Young, age 82, of St. Louis, MI, formerly from Lansing, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2009 at her home with her loving family by her side.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of St. Louis on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Phil Maxwell will officiate.

Betty was born in Jackson, Michigan on April 19, 1927, the daughter of Forrest Orville and Martha Elizabeth (Musser) Ward. She graduated from East Jackson High School in 1945. She was married to Ross A. Young in Jackson, MI from March 20, 1948 through August 11, 1977. Betty and her husband owned and operated an 80 acre family farm in Jackson for many years, then moved to Lansing where they raised their family. Betty loved to socialize, sew, made many quilts for her grandchildren, and loved her flower garden which always produced beautiful flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Louis.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia L. "Cindy" and Edward "Joe" Ward II of St. Louis, MI, 5 grandchildren; Bill S. Young Jr. of Florida, Charlene E.(Ward) and Caleb Ebel of Ft.Wayne, IN, Kelly J. (Ward) and Noah Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA, Emily J. Ward of St. Louis, MI, Michelle M. (Coleman) and Rick Partridge of Lake, MI, 4 great grandchildren; Gavin, Tristen, Rikell, and Calene Elizabeth, her brother Richard "Dick" and Grace Ward of Whitmore Lake, MI, and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Bill S. Young Sr. in 1985, and her sister Barbara Carol Lane in 2007.
