Beverly Ditmer

Beverly J. Ditmer age 90 of St. Johns, MI, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Gunnisonville Meadows Senior Assisted Living, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Dale Kessler officiating.  Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Beverly was born in Scranton, PA, on May 5, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Alma (Harstad) Wainwright. She graduated from Central High School in Detroit in 1946, and attended Bethel College in Indiana.

On January 22, 1948 Beverly married Robert Dean Ditmer Sr. in Detroit, MI; Robert passed away on June 21, 2005.  Beverly was a career telephone operator, and worked for several companies including General Telephone in St. Johns, MI. She retired from Jackson National Life Insurance Company in 2007 after 20 years of service. She resided most of her life in the St. Johns area.  She was a member of Eureka Christian Church Eureka, MI, which her husband Robert pastored, and where she ministered and played piano and organ for many years.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Renae Ditmer of Washington, DC; Judy  Ditmer of Phoenix, AZ; Jeanette and Freeman Ward of Lansing, MI; 1 son Robert and Denise Ditmer II of Monument, CO; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Darlene and Parker Seiler; Marcia and Norman Pike; and 1 brother Arthur and Dortha Wainwright Jr.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
