     Bonna Lee "Bonnie" Cooper, age 96, of St. Johns, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
     Funeral Services will be held at Redeemer United Methodist Church, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, with Pastor Rod Kalajainen and Pastor Dick Riley officiating. Burial will take place at New Haven Township Cemetery, New Haven Twp, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI and also on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
     Bonnie was born in New Haven Township, Michigan on January 27, 1928, the daughter of Harry F. and Eva M. (Wiles) Troub. She graduated from Fulton Schools with the class of 1946. She married Hollis D. Cooper on December 24, 1947, in Newaygo, MI. They were married on his parents' twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. They were blessed with seventy-four years of marriage prior to Hollis' passing on January 31, 2022.
     Bonnie worked alongside her husband Hollis at R.E. Benson Plumbing & Heating until 1990. Bonnie lived most of her life in Middleton and later moved to St. Johns in 2004. She joined the Middleton United Methodist Church in 1951 and then transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church, St. Johns in 2007. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, square dancing, and working in her flower gardens. She loved decorating and baking for holidays and making holidays feel special for her family. Spending time with her family was most important to her. Bonnie devoted the last few years to taking care of Hollis before his passing. Bonnie and Hollis spent many winters in Zephyrhills, FL. Bonnie will be remembered for making everyone feel welcome and part of the family.
     She is survived by son Thomas Cooper of Alma, MI; daughter Connie and Gene Schneeberger of DeWitt, MI; daughter Nancy and Bill DeJohn of Naples, FL; and son Jeffrey and Virginia Cooper of Cary, NC; grandchildren: Jonathan Cooper, Brandy and Tom Tudor, and Bradly and Kim Fox. She is also survived by great-granddaughter Jaiden Tudor and great-grandson Jeremiah Fox. Bonnie was preceded in death by parents; husband Hollis, two infant brothers: Mancel Troub and Harry Troub, Jr. her brother Howard Troub and her sister Maxine Ayres.
