Bruce Hofferbert

Bruce Ivan Hofferbert, age 75, of Bannister, MI passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Donald Ferris-McCann and Mr. Thomas Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Bruce was born in Elsie, Michigan on March 4, 1938, the son of Ivan and Gertrude May (Umstattd) Hofferbert. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1956. On June 20, 1959 Bruce married Shirley Skaryd in Bannister, Michigan. Bruce was the owner of Hofferbert Sales Inc. he started the business in 1958, which is a AGCO Implement Dealership in Bannister. He enjoyed having coffee every morning at the shop in Bannister. Bruce had a passion for restoring and repairing Oliver Tractors. He was always available for free advice. Bruce resided most of his life in Bannister Michigan.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Hofferbert of Bannister, MI, daughter Kathy and Kevin Young of Elsie, MI, son Bruce and Shawne Hofferbert Jr. of Elsie, MI, grandchildren; Nathan and Rachel Hofferbert, and Natalie Hofferbert, and 2 sisters. He was predeceased by his parents.
