C. Wendall ("Deacon") Dunbar age 92 of Saginaw, Michigan formerly of St. Louis, Michigan died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Arbor Hospice Residence Ann Arbor, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church St. Louis, MI on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Lillian French will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 2-5 & 6-8 P.M.
Clarence was born in High Point, North Carolina on October 18, 1914 the son of Clarence and Ida ( Satterthwaite ) Dunbar. He resided in St. Louis since 1944. He graduated from high school n High Point, North Carolina in 1932 and then he received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1936 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wendell married Mary Brooke Greeley on June 13, 1938 in Hopewell, Virginia. She died on December 26, 1966. He then married Frances Miller Schell on May 29, 1968 in Traverse City, Michigan. She died on May 13, 1997. He retired in 1975 from Michigan Chemical Corporation as a Chief Chemical Engineer after many years of service. He served as an Eagle Scout, and a Scout Master for many years, and supported many charitable organizations. His priorities in life were; family, friends, and his community. He was a friend to all and liked by everyone. Wendell was a member of First United Methodist Church of St. Louis, MI.
He is survived by 1 son C. Wendall & Nancy Dunbar Jr. of Ann Arbor, MI, 1 daughter Sarah & Michael Warmbier of Auburn, MI, 4 step-sons; Larry Schell of Indiana, Fred & JoAnna Schell of California, Tom & Toni Schell of Maryland, Ron & Linda Schell of Indiana, 4 grandchildren; Matthew & Nancy Dunbar of West Hartford, CT, Ross & Mitra Dunbar of Ann Arbor, MI, Jennifer & Chris Harding of Saginaw, MI, Erin Warmbier of St. Louis, MI, 6 step-grandchildren Allison, Ryan, Jason, Timothy, Anna, & David Schell, 5 great grandchildren; Jane, Michael, Danielle, Ayla, William, & 1 great grandson due at any time, special niece Jo Faulman, 3 nephews; Windley Dunbar, Charles Dunbar, Robert Dunbar, and 1 sister-in-law Elizabeth Dunbar. He is predeceased by his parents, 2 wives, and 1 brother Aubrey.
