C. Jean Filgas, age 85, of Owosso, MI passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center, Durand, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 6:00 PM with visiting 4-6 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Pastor Duane Harris will officiate.

Jean was born in Chesaning, Michigan on May 5, 1923, the daughter of William H. and Alice L. (Pendell) Ackles. She graduated from Ashley High School and attended Owosso Business College. Jean married Frank Filgas July 28, 1946 in Bannister, MI. Frank passed away on June 13, 1995. Jean resided most of her adult life in Owosso. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Owosso. She worked as a Manager for Montgomery Wards for 25 years and owner of Fashion Crossroads for 12 years.

Jean is survived by 2 daughters; Nancy and Patrick Butcher of Owosso, MI, and Karen and Brian Farwell of Big Lake, MN; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Marjory Bishop of Maryland and Betty Mitchell of Bannister, MI, brother; James Ackles of Glennie, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, 2 daughters, Judy Fagan and Joan Shaffer, granddaughter, Patricia Wisenbaugh and 2 brothers, Vince and Bud Ackles.
