Carl Leroy Stone age 95 of Brohman, Michigan passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, with Pastor Terry Hansen officiating.  Interment will be at the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held at the Smith Family Funeral Homes on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Memorials may be made to the family for local Wesleyan Churches.

Carl was born in Wheeler, Michigan on February 3, 1922 the son of Harold and Ethel (Shepherd) Stone. He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1941.  As a runner at Breckenridge High School, Carl received his varsity letter in track and also played football.

Carl married the love of his life, Minnie (Hamlin) Stone, on November 29, 1946 in Alma, Michigan.  After over 40 years of dairy farming, Carl retired and worked as a herdsman in Tennessee for several years.  He then spent time working with the Michigan DNR at the Baldwin Station, and Newaygo Soil Conservation. Carl was an all around handyman, and loved to work with wood.  He was passionate about his Indian motorcycle.  He was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He attended the Dayton Center Wesleyan Church

Carl is survived by his wife Minnie, children Maynard (Kathy) Stone of Traverse City, Gary Stone of Wheeler, Cathy Stone of Brohman, Randy (Becky) Stone of Wheeler; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren with number 3 on the way in June.  He is also survived by his siblings:  Stanley Stone, James (Pat) Stone, and Barbara (Russ) Carrick.  Carl was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren Glenn and Chris Hoverman; and siblings Lyle Stone and Forrest "Dutch" Stone.
