Carlene Louise Scott, age 84, of Perrinton, MI, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at The Laurels of Carson City, MI.

Carlene was born in Lansing, MI on February 20, 1936, the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Grace Anna (Hubbert) Penrose. She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. On June 26, 1965 Carlene married Jack Scott at Miller Road Bible Church, Lansing, MI. Together they resided most of their lives in the Lansing area.

Carlene was employed by International Harvester for many years. She had previously been a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. Carlene and Jack were avid fans of MSU basketball and attended many games. They also enjoyed trips to Lake Michigan together. She loved their many dogs throughout the years. Time spent with her children, grandchildren and siblings, as family was very important to her. She was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Lansing, MI.

She is survived by daughter Jane and Ed Nickels of Perrinton, MI,

son Patrick Scott of Lansing, MI, daughter in law Ann Scott of Dayton, OH, grandchildren: Aaron and Karyn Nickels of Allentown, PA, Heather Scott of Illinois, Elizabeth Stewart and David Allen of Owosso, MI, Dane McCafferty (Ivy) of Grand Ledge, MI, Kellie Stewart of Lansing, MI, brothers: Gary and Nancy Penrose of Perrinton, MI, and Bill and Ruth Penrose of West Branch, MI.  She is also survived by great grandchildren: Ryleigh Allen, Cooper, Emerson and Wyatt Nickels, and Oakley Robbins, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters: Cathy Chadwell, and Jackie Stewart, and son Steve Scott.

Due to Covid a Memorial Service and Burial will take place at Deepdale Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Capital Area Humane Society or Alzheimer's Association.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.
