Carol Bongard

Carol Jean Bongard, age 62, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ashley Friendship Center on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 1:00 P.M.

Carol was born in Alma, MI on September 25, 1957, the daughter of Lester C. Kimmel and Berneda M. (Nieman) Shattuck. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1976. Carol had previously worked at ITT Automotive and Wolverine Shoe in Ithaca and was an EMT for the Ashley Ambulance Service.

Carol enjoyed time spent at the Crystal Raceway, she spent two summers there as an EMT. She liked visiting the EMT garage in Alma and chatting with people there. She liked classic cars, sitting outside listening to the radio and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Cass M. and Jenna Bongard of Kentucky; mother Berneda and step father Richard Shattuck of Ashley, MI; brother Ronald and Angela Kimmel of Eagan, MN; sister Christine and Terry Waldron of Pewamo, MI; sister Susan Havelka of Detroit, MI; brother David Kimmel of St. Louis, MI; sister Ellen Zimmerman of Ashley, MI; step sister Laura Clements of Greenville, MI; step mother Sandy Kimmel of Merrill, MI; step sister Kim Mau of Merrill, MI; step sister Ronda Mau of Merrill, MI; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father Lester, and brother in law Mike Zimmerman.
