Carol Eunice Hoard, age 88, of Ithaca, MI, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at MyMichigan Health Center, Midland, MI.
Carol was born at home in Breckenridge, MI, on February 11, 1936, the daughter of Warren and C. Marie Lytle. She graduate from Ithaca High School, with the Class of 1954, and she received a two-year Secretarial Degree from Ferris State Institute in 1956. On October 13, 1956, Carol married Russell Lee Hoard, the love of her life, who survives her. They were blessed with sixty-seven years of marriage.
During the course of her working years, she worked at Consumers Power of Alma, sold Tupperware for 11 1/2 years and Mary Kay, for a few years. Carol worked as the office secretary for the Edgewood Church of God for 14 years, and was also the bookkeeper for the church for 21 years.
Carol was a lifetime worshipper at the Edgewood Church of God, and was very involved in the church's activities, and held several offices of the women's group; organized and help cook many meals; and served on the Board of Trustees and the Church Council for 19 years.
She is survived by her husband Russell Lee Hoard of Alma, MI; Douglas (Ellen) Hoard of St. Johns, MI; Dale (Sarah) Hoard of Kalamazoo, MI; and Lisa M. Earl of Alma, MI. They blessed their parents with six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Patrick) Schneider, Kevin Hoard, Abigail (Marty) Santek, Anna (Joel) Perry, Christopher Earl (Lindsey Buckner), and Joshua Earl; and 4 great-grandchildren: October Earl, Aurora Earl, Parker Santek, and Emmaline Schneider. She is also survived by one brother Nyle Lytle of Fruitport, MI; one sister-in-law Helen Hoard of Ithaca, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Lytle, her husband's parents, Claude and Louisa Hoard, brothers-in-law: Fred, Duane, Cardwell, and Marvin Hoard, and her sister-in-law Merna (Richard) Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held at Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI, on Friday June 14, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Nathan Workman and Pastor Dave Perry officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
