Carol N. Shaw, age 55 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away at her home on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 12:25 PM, after an eight month battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Tom Crider will officiate and burial will follow at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI.
Carol was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on August 26, 1957 the daughter of Robert D. B. and Mae L. (Metcalf) Nigh. On October 6, 1984 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma she married Roger Shaw. Carol received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and was employed in various accounting positions at the Department of Energy and Phillips Petroleum, as well as clerk-treasurer for the Village of New Miami, Ohio. She was an active member of New Miami Wesleyan Church for 22 years, where she served as the pastor's wife, played piano, and worked with the Wesleyan Women. Carol loved music, animals, and traveling to 49 of the 50 states. She especially loved spending time in the Smokey Mountains where she and her husband have a log cabin.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Roger Shaw and a daughter, Bethany Shaw, both of Hamilton, Ohio; her father-in-law, Carl Shaw of Ithaca; sister-in-law, Sandra (Glenn) Hinterman of Shelby; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Shaw of Ithaca and James (Dolores) Shaw of Perrinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Audrey Shaw.
A celebration of her life will be held at the New Miami Wesleyan Church, 67 Elliott Avenue, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. George Holley officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Les Crossfield and Rev. Jeff Mansell. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
