Carol L. "Corky" Watson age 85 of Ovid, MI passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Oliver Woods Retirement Village, Owosso, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at United Church of Ovid at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 with Pastor Robert Nystrom officiating.  Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI.

Carol was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 16, 1931, the daughter of Coyne and Vera (Williams) Slater.  Carol resided most of her life in the Ovid and Elsie area and was a graduate of Owosso High School.  Carol married Richard Watson October 20, 1951.  He passed away on May 23, 1996.

Spending time with her family was the focus of her life.  Carol and her husband owned and operated Watson Transport.  She enjoyed doing needlework and was a pet lover.  Carol was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was a member of the United Church of Ovid where she sang in the choir for many years.  Carol and her husband enjoyed occasional vacations with friends and family.

She is survived by her 3 daughters Debra Heinze of Elsie, MI, Ellen and Gordon Veale of Elsie, MI, Linda and Daniel Lupu of Ovid, MI; grandchildren Tim and Liz Heinze, Becky and Dan Guyski, Robert Veale, Matthew and Robyn Veale, Daniel and Courtney Lupu, Benjamin Lupu, and Leah Lupu; great-grandchildren Serina and Faith Heinze, Avery, Brody and Brant Veale.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandchildren Tyler and Katie Heinze, 5 sisters Virginia Okker, Dorothy Clapham, Jane Koerner, Shirley Ondrias and Alyce Bond also a brother Coyne Slater, Jr.
