Carole Schmidtman

Carole S. Schmidtman, age 65, of St. Johns, MI passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011.

Memorial Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, 2057 N. Lansing Street, St. Johns, MI on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brian Sheen officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday, December 15, 2011 for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carole was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 31, 1946, the daughter of John B. and Georgia A. (Benson) Rivard. Carole married Walter H. Schmidtman on January 9, 1965. Carole enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, painting and quilting. She also loved children and ran a licensed daycare for many years. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Charlotte, MI.

Carole is survived by her husband of 46 years, Walter Schmidtman, mother Georgia Rivard of Easley, SC, sons; Paul (Toni) and Scott (Kendra) Schmidtman of St. Johns, MI daughter Lisa (John) Fuentes of Grand Ledge, MI, grandchildren; Heather & Danielle Schmidtman, Logan, Cameron & Ashton Fuentes, Jody, Kristi & Keith Schmidtman and Savanna Smith, and great-grandson Isaiah. She is also survived by her brothers; John (Brenda) Rivard of Greenville, SC, and Jim (Pam) Rivard of Easley, SC, sisters; Barbara (Bill) Bastedo of Greenville, SC, Jackie (Norbert) Ahrens of Napoleon, OH, Suzanne Buffington of Easley, SC, and several nieces and nephews. Carole was preceded in death by her father John Rivard and her sister, Debbie Rivard.
