Caroline Alice Pierce

     Caroline Alice Pierce, age 85, of Ovid, MI, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her home. This very special and sweet lady went home to be with her Lord and Savior. 

      A celebration of life will take place at Middlebury Methodist Church, 8100 West Hibbard Road, Ovid, MI from 1 to 4 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

    Caroline was born in Jackson, MI on October 30, 1938, the daughter of Clarence Kitson and Helen Myrtle (Kushmaul) Longstaff.

Caroline graduated from Leslie High School and went on to obtain her RN at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Caroline worked as an RN at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso and retired from there in 1994.

      Caroline married Bruce Pierce on May 14, 1961 in Bath, MI. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage prior to Bruce's passing on March 9, 2019. Caroline enjoyed reading, music, horses, cross stitch, camping and gardening. Caroline and Bruce enjoyed time spent with family at their cabin in Harrison. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she loved spending time with them. She was a member of Middlebury Methodist Church and UMW where she also was the organist and choir leader for many years. She was also on the board of trustees and taught summer school at the church. 

      Caroline will be remembered as a caring, loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  

    She is survived by her children: Mike and Linda Pierce of Ovid, MI; Kathy and Phil Thelen of Ovid, MI; and Steve and Cheryl Pierce of Owosso, MI; grandchildren: James Pierce of Ovid, MI; Jessica Pierce of Ovid, MI; Cody Thelen of Ovid, MI; Jake and Amber Thelen of Elsie, MI; Dillon and Jaclyn Thelen of Ovid, MI; Kyle and Kiana Pierce of Owosso, MI; Katelyn and Jerry Miller of Ionia, MI; Brianna Pierce of Owosso, MI; Brittany and David Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren: Hudson and Olivia Thelen, Carter Thelen, Chanel and Jerry Miller, and Abrina Owen. She is also survived by her brother David and Maria Longstaff of Grayling and sister in law Carolyn Donahue of Bath, and many cousins and friends.     She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Helen Longstaff, husband Bruce, and granddaughter Susan Pierce.
