Catherine Hallead

Catherine Elizabeth Hallead age 89, of Ovid, Michigan, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, Michigan. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, Michigan.

Catherine was born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 13, 1927, the daughter of Oscar and Lena (Coleman) Bush.  She was a graduate of Merrill High School and resided most of her life in Ovid, MI and Florida.  Catherine married Richard Hallead on April 19, 1947.  Richard passed away on July 31, 2005.  Catherine and Richard owned and operated Dick's Body Shop.  Then they owned Dick Hallead Ford for 18 years.  Catherine loved and enjoyed to crochet, knit, sew, bowl and play cards.  She also enjoyed her time in Florida.  She was a member of A.C.M.E. Society in Ovid and was a Campfire & Bluebird Leader.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Linda and Doug Behrens of Ovid, MI, Karen and Jeff Haring of Laingsburg, MI, granddaughter Susan and Kevin Dittrich of Owosso, MI, grandson Jeff Behrens of Ovid, MI, grandson Brian Behrens & Matthew Wahl of Ovid, MI, step granddaughter Lianne and Flint Fosnight, 7 great-grandchildren; Jordan, Madalin, and Sophia Dittrich, Ruby and Jack Stambersky and their mother Teresa Mulder, and Boston and Berkley Fosnight, sister Barb Martin of Hemlock, MI, brother Henry and Sheila Bush of Saginaw, MI, and dear friend Connie Jones.  Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Mark Stambersky and sister Clarie Twist, and brothers in law; Lowell Martin, and Worth Twist.
