Cereta A. Kiger age 89 of Elsie, Michigan died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Duplain Township Cemetery, Duplain Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday 6-8 P.M. Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Cereta was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 22, 1915 the daughter of William & Daisy ( Meese ) DeVries. She resided most of her life in the Clinton County Area. She graduated from St. Johns High School. Ceteta was a homemaker & former Bus Driver for Ovid-Elsie Public Schools, she loved to garden & picking & canning fruit, she also enjoyed sewing. She was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church and a past member of the Colony Extension Club.
She is survived by her daughter Lora Halstead of Rochester Colony, MI, 3 sons Marlynn Thornton of Elsie, MI, Rolland & Ruth Thornton of Elsie, MI, Keith & Patsy Thornton of Sturgis, MI, step son Rodney & Mary Kiger of Elsie, MI, step daughter Mary & Ken Mitts of Kalamazoo, MI, 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Earl Thornton, her second husband Kenneth Kiger, and 1 brother George DeVries.
Memorials may be made to a Charity of the donora�(TM)s choice in her memory. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel
