Charles B. Ellsworth age 89 died Monday, February 9, 2004 at his home in Alma, Michigan
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel in St. Louis, Michigan. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Charles was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on March 1, 1914 the son of John and Mae (Conklin) Ellsworth. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1932. He married Geraldine Dunbar in St. Louis on June 19, 1934. Charles served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. He retired from Total Refinery in 1978. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gunsmithing. He also enjoyed crafting hunting knives.
Survivors include; his wife of nearly 70 years Geraldine Ellsworth, 1 daughter, Jackie (Gordon) Sandel of St. Louis, Michigan, 3 grandsons; Scott Sandel of Cheboygan, Michigan, Mark (Anita) Sandel of Lansing, Michigan, and Lance Sandel serving in Cuba in the National Guard; 2 great grandsons Colin and Charles Sandel and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, son Terry, 3 sisters; Alfreda Mushinski, Gladys Barker, and Elaine Graham, and 1 brother Robert Ellsworth.
Memorials may be made to Gratiot County Commission on Aging or charity of donora�(TM)s choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St Louis Chapel.
