Charlie was born in Alma, Michigan on November 8, 1943, the son of Dale Robert and Annetta Louise (Amont) Smith. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1962. On February 7, 1970, Charlie married Beverly Jean Alward at the St. Louis Church of God. They have been married fifty-three years.
Charlie loved his family dearly. He said that the greatest stage of his life began in 1970, when he married Bev and continued to the present day. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, rarely missing any event in which they were involved.
In addition to fifty years of making friends through barbering, Charlie enjoyed working with his hands and sharing his skills and talents. He could do nearly anything and was always ready to help. Whether at work or play, Charlie could often be found outdoors. From camping and fishing to getting lost in the woods on his 4x4 or just relaxing on his porch swing, Charlie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Charlie's faith in Christ was the bedrock of his life. He was baptized into the Faith at the Coe Church of Christ and remained steadfast in the Lord for the remainder of his life. He loved to study his Bible and share his faith with others.
He is survived by his wife Bev, three children: Kurt (Marianne) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Hal Smith of St. Louis, MI; and Jenny Everitt of St. Louis, MI; nine grandchildren: Rome, Trevor, Jordan, Charli, Alyx, Dilynn, Grant, Grady, and Gabe; brother Mike (Patty) Smith, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dale Smith, mother Annetta (Rudy) Beracy, grandson Quintin Smith, and brother Rodney Smith.
