Charles Lee "Chuck" Heyer, age 77, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, Lansing, MI.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Douglas Osborn presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.
Chuck was born in Detroit, MI on January 27, 1944, the son of Carl and Orielda (Simon) Heyer. He graduated from Fowler High School with the class of 1962. Chuck married Beth Ann Wieber on September 5, 1964, in Fowler, MI.
Chuck enjoyed fishing trips at Mitchell State Park in Cadillac and hunting (deer camp). He was always working in his garage repairing dune buggies, tractors, snowmobiles, and painting vehicles. Chuck was very skilled in plumbing, electrical work and was also a farmer. Chuck coached his children's little league teams and was past president of the St. Johns Athletic Boosters. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their school sporting events and taking them fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI.
He is survived by his wife Beth Heyer of St. Johns, MI, daughter Kim (Bob) Tirva of San Francisco, CA, sons: Doug (Krista) Heyer of DeWitt, MI, Brent (Tonya) Heyer of DeWitt, MI, grandchildren: Ashley Heyer, Jessica Heyer, Jacob Heyer, Jenna Heyer, and Avery Tirva, sister Cathy (John) Rademacher of Fowler, MI, and sister Dottie Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Shirley Melton, Barbara O'Connor, Bob Ennis and Raymond Simon.
The family would also like to acknowledge May Rose and Arnold (Curly) Armbrustmacher for the positive impact they had on dad’s life.
