Charles Abraham Nethaway, age 88, of Ovid, Michigan died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dan Cameron officiating. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Fairfield Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Carland, Michigan on August 19, 1923, the son of Grover and Joanetta (Thompson) Nethaway. On March 23, 1946 he married Pauline Winonah Saxton, Pauline died July 20, 2011. He resided most of his life in the Ovid area. Charles served his country in the US Navy. He worked for Federal Mogul in St. Johns, Michigan for 32 years retiring in 1980. He also worked for RC Temple in Ovid and for many years he repaired farm equipment for area farmers. Charles also dug graves for many cemeteries in the area. He was a member of Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan.
He is survived by 4 sons; Gary and Coleen Nethaway of Elsie, MI, Barry Nethaway and fiancée Ellen Moilanen of Bannister, MI, Gene and Kathy Nethaway of Elsie, MI, Danny and Connie Nethaway of Ovid, MI, daughter Charline and David Clark of Lansing, MI, grandchildren; Les, Karrie, Amber & Tim, Autumn & Beau, Adam & Stephanie, Jodi & Joe, Eric & Denise, Hollie, Pamela & Brandon, Joshua, Melissa, Jared, Talia and Kayla, 11 great grandchildren, 4 sisters; Dora Dumond, Anna Hartwick, Leila and Wes Nelson, Helen Mindiola, 2 brothers; Tom & Barbara Nethaway, Chris & Dixie Nethaway, sister in law Fran Nethaway and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Pauline, 2 sisters; Dorothy & Marie, and 1 brother Perry. Charles loved helping others. There were no strangers with him.
