Charles Sills

Charles Hubert Sills, age 94, of Elsie, Michigan died Friday, July 11th, 2014 at Memorial Healthcare , Owosso, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 A.M. , Pastor Mona Kindel will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie chapel.

Hubert was born in Dexter, Missouri on July 18, 1919, the son of Leslie Andrew and Edna (Carney) Sills. He graduated from Flint Northern High School with the class of 1937.

In 1940 Hubert married Rose Marie Stanley in Clare, Michigan, Rose died in 1971. In 1972 he married Esolda "Pat" Irving at the Elsie United Methodist Church, Pat died in 2011.

He served his country in the US Army during WW2. Hubert started his business career in Flint, Michigan working for Louie's Grocery Store for 24 yrs, In 1958 he bought Rogers & Son Grocery in Elsie and in 1961 he started the IGA Store also in 1961 he started the coin Laundromat. In 1971 he starting selling real estate. Hubert was a member of the Elsie Masonic Lodge #238, OES #69, Bay City 32nd degree and the Elf Khurafea Shrine. He was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church Elsie, Michigan.

He is survived by his son, Ronald and Patti Sills of Avon, CO; daughter, Constance and Duane Zuckschwerdt of Corunna, MI; daughter in law, Vickie Irving of Midland, MI; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister, Norma and Bill Simmons, 2 brothers, Harold and Thelma Sills, Larry and Pat Sills,

He was predeceased by his parents, and both of his wives.
