Charles Starry Jr

Charles Starry Jr., age 85, of Houghton Lake, MI died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Warwick Living Center in Alma.

Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in St. Louis, MI on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Terri Bentley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6-8 PM and Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.

Chuck was born in St. Louis, Michigan on September 29, 1924, the son of Charles and Ina (Wright) Starry. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1942. Chuck married Donna Holton on September 27, 1947 in St. Louis. Chuck was a lifelong resident of St. Louis, and was a member of the St. Louis American Legion Post, Past City Council Member, St. Louis Zoning Board of Appeals, CSA, Secretary of the American Bowling Congress, and the Bricklayers Union #9-MI. Chuck retired from Betcher Masonary in Saginaw as a bricklayer after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the St. Louis First United Methodist Church, and was a WWII Army Vet.

He is survived by his wife Donna Starry of Houghton Lake, MI, son Jerry Starry of Littleton, Colorado, daughter Kathy Starry and Jack of Mt. Pleasant, MI, son Todd and Angela Starry of St. Louis, MI, 9 grandchildren; Rachel, Michael, Katie Beth, Matthew, Andrew, Johnathon, Zachariah, Elizabeth, and Grace. Also surviving is a sister Marie and Bob Watson of Florida, and a sister in law Aggie Starry of St. Louis, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Kenneth, Maynard, Frank, and Ralph, and a sister Virginia Dutcher.
