Charles Monroe Swarthout, age 79 of Bannister, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Mona Dye and Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Elsie, Michigan on August 24, 1935, the son of Rolland and HIlda (Wiltse) Swarthout. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1954. He served his country in the United States Army. On October 19, 1957, Charles married Marlene Pontious in Bannister, Michigan. Charles worked for MMPA for 45 years before retiring in 2002. Charles enjoyed football, bowling, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Swarthout of Bannister, son Jerry and (Pam) Swarthout of Corunna, daughters; Sheila Swarthout of Owosso, Jaeleen and (Dale) Adkins of Texas, Norita Swarthout of Bannister, daughter-in-law Tina Swarthout of Owosso, grandchildren; Tiffany and (Ganesh) Rajamonickam of Washington DC, Ashley Swarthout of Corunna, Amanda and (Phil) Swarthout-Pearce of Owosso, MIsty Mason of Georgia, Samantha Swarthout of Marion Springs, Ken and (Brandy) Adkins of Texas, Trenna and (Jimmy) Smothermon of Texas, Stephanie and (Doug) O'Neal of Texas, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and son Richard.
