Charles West

Charles Edward West age 81 of Owosso, Michigan, a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility Corunna, MI.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 3-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI. Military Rites will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 8:00 P.M.

Charles was born in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1925 the son of Isaiah and Alice ( Pacey ) West. He resided most of his life in Richboro, PA, Dewey Lake, MI, Yelm, WA and most recently Owosso, MI since 1993. He graduated from Ben Salem High School in Pennsylvania. Charles married On May 26, 1945 Chales married Betty King his high school sweetheart and they have been together for 62 years.. He honored his country by serving in the Navy during World War II, the Reserves, and the Korean War. He was a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball in Newtown, PA. Charles was a member of the VFW of Newtown Pennsylvaina, and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Betty West of Owosso, MI, 2 sons; Charles & Marilyn West of Flushing, MI, Dan & Joann West of Sequim, WA, 4 grandchildren; Tara West of Chicago, IL, Megan West of Davison, MI, Paul West of Sequim, WA, Jenna West of Port Angeles, WA, and 2 great grandchildren; Hyla and Ana Grace. He is predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Healthcare Hospice or the Shiawassee County Medical Facility. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
