Charlotte Jane Hirschman, age 81, of Ithaca, Michigan died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, Michigan on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M., with Pastor George Showers officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel.
Charlotte was born in Perrinton, Michigan on October 27, 1929, the daughter of John Dudley and Agnes Irene (Moriearty) Parfitt. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1947 and then attended CMU and graduated with a teaching degree. On September 11, 1949 she married Vernon G. Hirschman in Ithaca, Michigan. She resided most of her life in the Ithaca area.
Charlotte was an elementary teacher for Ithaca Public Schools retiring in 1992 after 22 years of service. Prior to her years in Ithaca, she taught at Fulton Schools. She enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, camping, and going to her children and grandchildren's events. Charlotte sang and played the piano at many weddings.
She is survived by her husband Vernon Hirschman of Ithaca, MI, four sons - Mike (Ann) Hirschman of Ithaca and their four children: Dan (Kim), Pete (Kate) Joe, and Betsy; Matt (Becky) Hirschman of Ithaca and their two children: Megan and Nick; Jim (Laurie) Hirschman of Alma and their three children: Jake (Stacy), Jessie, and Luke; Bill (Shelley) Hirschman of Ithaca and their two children: Nathan and Sara; three daughters - Cathy (Jeff) Rayburn of Ithaca and their three sons: Josh, Ben, and Luke; Kris (Dave) Rayburn of Ithaca and their two children: Jon and Erica; Karen (Mark) Hoard of Ithaca and their daughter Cindy (Tyler) Moomey; two great grandsons - Brayden and Marshall, two sisters - Marilla Parfitt, Elizabeth (Bob) McKinnon, and one brother - Richard (Pat) Parfitt. She was predeceased by her parents, and 3 brothers, Russell, Henry and John Parfitt.
