Clare Dean Parker, 78, of Owosso, MI, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at Covenant Medical Center, Saginaw, MI of natural causes.
Per Clare's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid at a later date.
Clare was born in St. Johns, MI on February 20, 1942, the son of Henry and Opal (Kosht) Parker. He attended Ovid High School. In his teens, Clare joined the U.S. Navy. In the early 1960's, he was aboard the USS William M. Wood, a destroyer in the 6th fleet, in the Mediterranean Sea.
Clare worked at Oldsmobile and was a carpenter for most of his life. He was a member of American Legion Post #502, Elsie.
Clare is survived by 2 sons: Clint Parker and Eric (Laurie Lynne) Parker both of Ovid; daughter Maggie Parker of VA, step-son Jon Elwell of VA, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by sister Sandy Kettler of Ovid, brother Keith (Patti) Parker of Ovid, 4 nephews: Gregg (Holly) Criner, Gary (Bob Sauer) Criner, Kristopher Parker, and Kelly (Jodi) Parker; and niece Kimberly (Kip) Scott.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Elsie American Legion Post #502 or to the charity of your choice.
