Clarence C. Champlin, age 88, of Henderson, MI passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Scott Seelhoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Henderson, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 20, 2009 from 2-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Clarence was born in Henderson, Michigan on December 6, 1920, the son of George and Mable (Delmater) Champlin. He resided all of his life in Henderson, MI. Clarence married Edith Lent on February 14, 1942 in Henderson, MI. Repairing John Deere antique tractors was his passion. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Clarence was a farmer carrying on his family farm.

Clarence is survived by his wife Edith Champlin of Henderson, MI, 2 daughters; Lucille and Clay Garrett of Owosso, MI, Carol Champlin of Henderson, MI, 2 grandchildren; Michele and Steve Basal of Marquette, MI, Craig and Linda Garrett of St. Johns, MI, 4 great grandchildren; Sascha Garrett, Robert Garrett, Craig Garrett, Jr., Lucas Basal, sister Helen Calkins of Flint, MI, 2 nieces; Marie and Doug VanDusen of Ovid, MI, Marilyn and Dale Taylor of Bridgeport, MI, nephew Keith and Judy Calkins of Flint, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Champlin.
