Clarissa Jane Newport, age 92, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, MI. Evangelist Timothy Gean will officiate and visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 2-8 PM with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.

Clarissa was born in Bennington Township, Michigan on September 23, 1916 the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Kimmis) Harvey. She resided most of her life in Owosso and was a member of M-21 Church of Christ, Owosso. Clarissa married Morgan Newport on December 14, 1933 in Owosso, MI. She loved to read, do embroidery and enjoyed traveling.

Clarissa is survived by her husband Morgan Newport of Owosso, MI, 2 daughters; Jane and Dale Hollenback of Owosso, MI & Martha Wallace of Lansing, MI, son Dale and Joyce Newport of Owosso, MI, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters; Katherine, Marion, Edith, Myrtle, Bertha & Minnie and 3 brothers; Julius, Allen & Earl.
