Cleon Platner

Cleon Leroy Platner, age 82 of Dimondale, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Eaton Community Palliative Care, Charlotte, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Ava Williams officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 11-1 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Cleon was born in St. Johns, MI on February 12, 1937 the son of Paul Charles and Dortha E. (Harris) Platner.  Cleon resided most of his life in Elsie and Dimondale.

Cleon was a graduate of Elsie High School Class of 1954 and attended MSU.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Guam for 2 years.  Cleon retired from Farm Bureau and worked at the Creamery in Elsie and Ovid.  He traveled to Austria, New York and Washington, DC.  Cleon was very heavy into photography and enjoyed riding motorcycle and playing golf.

He is survived by his brother Duane and Sue Platner of Elsie, MI; sister Reta Gillson of Battle Creek, MI; and 4 nieces and nephews.  Cleon was preceded in death by his parents Paul Platner in 2003 and Dortha Platner in 2014.
