Clifton Arehart

The wonderful journey of Clifton J. Arehart began on February 28, 1927 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a new one began with his passing on May 14, 2008 in Saginaw, Michigan.
Clifton grew up in Reed City, and as a boy he often went without shoes. This was why as an adult, he did not like to be bare-foot. He moved to Charlotte and attended high school there, where he played tennis and the clarinet.
He began his pursuit of what would become a life-long passion for him, pharmacy, at Ferris State University. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Delta fraternity. He graduated from Ferris with honors and immediately went to work as a pharmacist manager, where he worked for one month before he was drafted.
In the United States Army, he served as a staff sergeant in the medical corps. He remained a devout patriot throughout his life, applauding others who served their country and very proud of his time in service of the nation.
His dedication to service continued throughout his life. He was a health officer in Cook County, Illinois and president of the Country Club Hills Jaycees. He was a Scout Master and Sunday school teacher there.
In 1968, he followed his dream to own his own pharmacy and moved to St. Louis, Michigan. There he became involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Gratiot County Players, and training others in CPR. He truly enjoyed his customers, friends, and staff at Evans Drugs.
At his death, he was surrounded by his beloved wife, Joan Arehart, his three children; Marta, Jeff, and Kim, and his grandchildren; Ashley and Lynnie Post. He is greatly missed by his California grandchildren; Ryan and Taylor Moyer, C.J. and Grant Arehart, son-in-law Steve Moyer, daughter-in-law Jeanne Arehart, and special family friend, Joe Sherrick and his children, Josh and Tabetha. He will also be lovingly remembered by his father-in-law and wife George and Betty Hendy, favorite in-laws, Sam and Judy Eyde, the Pete and Stephanie Kramer family, the Pat and Jennifer Gilliespie family, Melissa Eyde, and the Sam and Jessica Eyde Family.
The family would like to thank the sixth floor staff at St. Mary's hospital and Dr. Krepostman and his staff for the compassionate care given to him. We could not have asked for more.

Arehart will be held at the United Methodist Church in St. Louis on Saturday, May 17th at 3:00 p.m. A time for visits and sharing fond memories with the family will be at 2:00.
