Cruz Guzman

Cruz Guzman, age 89, of Shepherd formerly of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at her home in Shepherd.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, Michigan on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M.; Rev. Fr. John Fain will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Owosso, MI.

Cruz was born in Victoria, Texas on May 3, 1919, the daughter of Justo and Rafaela (Soliz) Garcia. Cruz married Jose in May of 1935. He passed away June 11, 1977. Cruz resided most of her life in Owosso, Michigan living in Shepherd since 1975.

Cruz loved to garden especially her flowers. She was talented in sewing and embroidery. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life and she will always be remembered as a hard working lady. Cruz always had many animals. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, Michigan.

Cruz is survived by her daughter Emma Guffey of Owosso, Michigan, son Gilbert and Jackie Guzman of Houston, Texas, daughter, Maria of Byron, Michigan, son Joe Guzman of Harrison, Michigan, son Justo and Beth Guzman of Harrison, Michigan, daughter Anita Garcia of Owosso, Michigan, daughter Minnie and Ces Garcia of Owosso, Michigan, son Steve and Georgia Guzman of Shepherd, Michigan, son Savas and Donna Guzman of Beaverton, Michigan, son Diego Guzman of Shepherd, Michigan, and daughter Susie and Gerald Ward of Clare, Michigan, She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jose, 3 sons; Sunday, Lupe & Carlos, 5 grandchildren, and 2 daughters-in-law Sharon & Kathy.
