Cyrus Johnson

Cyrus Arthur Johnson age 82 of Elsie- Chapin Township, Michigan died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday 2-8 P.M. and family will be present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie-Brown will officiate and burial will take place at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan.
Cyrus was born in Chapin Township, Michigan on September 14, 1923 the son of Chester & Elsie ( Campbell ) Johnson. He resided most of his life in the Elsie / Chapin Township area. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1941 and he was a farmer and enjoyed baseball and had played for the Marion Springs team in his earlier years, he also enjoyed hunting & fishing. He had previously served on the Chapin Township Board. He supported the Chapin United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his brother, Frank Johnson of Chapin Township, Michigan, 3 sisters, Erma Criner of Chapin Township, Michigan, Edna Meadows of Roscommon, Michigan, Ellen Waggoner of Roscommon, Michigan, he has many nieces and nephews who also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and a baby sister.
Memorials may be made to the Chapin United Methodist Church, in his memory.
