Daland Thomas

Daland "Elvis" R. Thomas Sr., age 70, of Lansing, Michigan, died Friday, August 10, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Mona Kindel will officiate. Burial will take place at Deepdale Cemetery Lansing, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Daland was born in St. Johns, Michigan on September 14, 1941, the son of Harold Dean and Iola M. (Swarthout) Thomas. On July 11, 1961 he married Nadine C. Hunt in Indiana; she died on May 20, 2000. He had worked for Oldsmobile and retired in 1997 after 35.6 years of service. Daland had resided most of his life in the Lansing area and was a huge Elvis Presley fan and he enjoyed riding his Harley.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa and Ray Rumsey of Lansing, MI; Grandchildren Tara Rae, Victoria, Daniel, Joshua, Aaron, and Christi, two sisters, Dalean and Robert McCullough of Grand Ledge, Michigan; Glenda Sue Thomas of St. Johns, Michigan; and also 5 stepchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, son, Daland Thomas Jr., brother, Duane Thomas, three step sons.
