Dale Frances Calder age 69 of St. Johns, Michigan died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan Lansing, Michigan.
A Requiem Mass will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Bernard Colussy O.F.M. will officiate with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M., Rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M.
Dale was born in St. Johns, Michigan on February 28, 1937 the son of Leo Martin and Lucille Marie ( Brya ) Calder. He resided most of his life in the St. Johns area and graduated from Rodney B. Wilson School with the class of 1956. Dale married Mary Ganiard on September 11, 1971 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church "Irish Hills" Brooklyn, Michigan. He was a College Professor of French and Humanities at St. Mary's College in St. Marys, Kansas, then taught at Donnely College in Kansas, and at Belleplain & Udall Schools in Wichita, Kansas. He then retired in 1993. Dale was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fredonia, Wisconsin. He was active in the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Clinton County Historical Society, and founder of the Genealogical Committee there in Clinton County.
He is survived by his wife Mary Calder of St. Johns, MI, 2 brothers; Robert L. & Lillian Calder of Holt, MI, Max & Joan Calder of Dewitt Township, MI, 2 sisters-in-law; Diana & Robert Potts of Clark Lake, MI, Julie & William Earle of Clark Lake, MI, and several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, son Jacques Francois Calder on July 27, 1974 and 1 brother William Calder in 1928.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
