Dale D. Smith age 84 of Alma, Michigan died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Pine River Healthcare Center St. Louis, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Emerson Township Cemetery Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Dale was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on September 19, 1922 the son of Howard B. and Faye ( White ) Smith. He was a life long resident of St. Louis and graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1940. Dale married Wanda R. Randall in Gratiot County on November 10, 1943, she died in 1969. He then married Phyllis Webster on July 10, 1970 in Saginaw. He retired from Michigan Sugar Company in 1984. He was also a local farmer until 1963. He loved farming, and was an antique tractor collector. Dale also enjoyed golfing, making wood crafts for his family, and traveling to Florida for many winters. Dale was a member of Beebe United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He also served on the Emerson Township Board of Trustees.

He is survived by wife Phyllis Smith of Alma, MI, 3 children Gayla & Lee Foster of Ithaca, MI, Rebecca & David Adams of Alma, MI, David & Sue Smith of Kent City, MI, 2 step-children Trina & Kenneth Haggerty of Hemlock, MI, Gary Dewey & special friend Tammy Thomas of Ludington, MI, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters Virginia & Duane Dancer of Alma, MI, Joan Netzley of St. Louis, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, 1 granddaughter Amy Haggerty, brother-in-law Alfred Netzley and brother Paul Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or the Parkinsons Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
