Dale Edward Snyder

     Dale Edward Snyder, age 84, of Sumner, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
     A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, December 30, 2024 with family and friends sharing. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI, with military honors being presented. Visitation will take place on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
      Dale was born in St. Johns, MI on July 14, 1940, the son of Kenneth Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Dickinson) Snyder. He attended Fulton High School and served his country in the U.S. Army as a tanker with a tour in Korea. Dale married Ellen Louise Guthrie of Lansing in 1960, and Jeanne Ellen Clark of Alma in 1966. On June 27, 1983, Dale married Shirley and they were married 30 years prior to her death on June 27, 2013.
      Dale retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing after 32 years. Farming, vegetable gardening, deer hunting, tractors of any kind, and his orchard brought great joy to him for many years. Dale was full of life and enjoyed a good joke or prank that would quickly make him laugh. His grin and mischievous smile were notorious. Generous to a fault, Dale will be remembered as always willing to help out a neighbor or friend in need. Visitors to his farm were often overloaded with garden produce as they left whether they wanted it or not.
     He is survived by his sons: Dale Snyder, Jr. and Rita Corey of Palm Bay, FL; Bryan Snyder of Lansing, MI; David and Missy Snyder of Lafayette, IN; Bruce and Sherri Snyder of Hickory Corners, MI; grandchildren: Kayleigh Snyder, Blake Snyder, Olivia Snyder, Madi Snyder, and Stephanie Snyder; one great-grandson Beckham Snyder; sisters: Betsy Patrick of St. Louis, MI; Kyle Snyder of Lansing, MI. Dale is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brothers Allen and Jim Snyder.
