Daniel "Lee" Best, age 84, of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Louis First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Terri Bentley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, St. Louis, MI.
Lee was born in Flint, Michigan on June 22, 1927, the son of Daniel and Marie (Pelkey) Best. Daniel married Melba Wolfgang on June 27, 1948. They just celebrated their 63rd anniversary. He resided most of his life in St. Louis, Michigan.
Lee served in the United States Army in World War II. Lee owned and operated the Alma Freezer Company. He enjoyed his job, and his customers. He loved going up north to the family cabin and spending time fishing. Lee also liked to bowl, play cards and spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Best, son David and Donna Best of St. Louis, MI, daughter Becky and Jim Leonard of Vestaburg, MI, 4 grandchildren; Daniel and Rhys Leonard of Berkley, MI, Ben and Rosalie Leonard of Philadelphia, PA, Jeffery Best of St. Louis, MI, and Jessica Best of St. Louis, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
