Daniel Hill

Daniel D. Hill, 63, of Ithaca, MI, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 21, 2016.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, with Pastor Darold Hill and Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. Burial will take place at Riverdale Cemetery, Riverdale, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan.

Daniel was born in Manistique, Michigan on December 23, 1952, the son of Donald Hill and Trula (Hanes) Hill. He graduated from Carson City High School with the class of 1971. He married Sandra Kay Jorgensen on December 27, 1975 in Greenville, MI. Sandy passed away on October 19, 2006. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gun collecting, and working on his classic cars. He was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. Having a cup of coffee and sharing stories at his kitchen table were his favorite ways to spend time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved daughters; Amy and Tim Parker, of Lansing, MI, Abby Hill (Douglas Clark) of Ithaca, MI, sister Barbara and Donnie Carey, of Mt. Pleasant, MI, brother Darold and Marg Hill, of Spring Arbor, MI, brother Rex and Philipa Hill, of Hillman, MI, brother Wayne and Arlene Hill, of Gwinn, MI, brother Clayton and Connie Hill, of Sumner, MI, brother Douglas and Linda Hill, of St. Johns, MI, brothers in law; Dale Wells and Dave Hagerman and sister in law Jean Hill. He is also survived by his dog Olive and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and best friend Sandy, his special dog Otis, brothers; Cliff and Dave, and sisters; Sherry, Dorothy, and Betty.

Memorials may be made to the family to continue their Adopt a Family annual Christmas tradition or Gratiot County Animal Shelter.
