Daniel Lee Netzley, 65, of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. Burial will take place at Emerson Township Cemetery, Emerson Township, Michigan.
Dan was born November 24, 1950 in Alma, Michigan the son of Alfred and C. Joan (Smith) Netzley. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Central Michigan University. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Lansing, Michigan as a Millwright after 30 years of service. Dan was employed by Bader & Sons Co. at the Rosebush location until his death. For over 20 years he coached little league, pony league, American Legion baseball and served as varsity baseball and freshman and JV football coach at Breckenridge High School. Dan was instrumental in establishing the annual FFA farm toy show and coordinated it for 20 years. He had been active in Rotary, township government, was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, and was a strong supporter of 4H and the Gratiot County Fair for Youth. Dan enjoyed his antique tractors, tractor shows, Great Lakes Loons baseball games, and his morning coffee at the local roundtable. Dan married Corinne “Corey” (McDonald) Roslund on September 2, 1995.
He is survived by his wife, mother, and 3 children; Kyrie (Brett) Krenz of Wilkesboro, NC, Patrick (Kelly) Netzley of Hemlock, MI, Collin (Amie) Netzley of Midland, MI, stepchildren; Kristin (Keith) Davenport of Ithaca, MI, Kyle Roslund of Vancouver, WA, and Kalin (Brent) Lombard of Ithaca, MI. He treasured his 9 grandchildren; Emilia and Dawson Krenz, Reilie and Easton Netzley, Elsea Netzley, Lydia and Ivy Davenport, Mallory and Bryce Lombard. He is also survived by his sister Brenda (Mike) Siefka of St. Louis, MI and two special nieces; Kelly (Todd) Stoneman of Breckenridge, MI and Leslie Siefka of Ithaca, MI and their families; as well as sisters-in-law Colleen (Alva) Swearengin of Frankenmuth, MI and Maureen (Melvin) Rauschert of Bay City. He was predeceased by his father and nephew John Siefka.
