Daniel Richard Pung, age 64, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dan was born in Carson City, Michigan on April 16, 1960, the son of Joseph and Genevieve (Simon) Pung. He graduated from Fowler High School with the class of 1979. Dan married Cynthia Wolker on August 2, 2013, in St. Johns, MI. He retired from General Motors after 38 years of service. He loved fishing, boating, hunting, horseshoes, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed all sports, especially slow pitch softball, bowling, and pickle ball. Dan was an avid Michigan State, Detroit Lions, LA Rams fan and liked following Fowler athletics. He looked forward to getting together with friends and family. Dan loved to be in the kitchen baking his well-loved cinnamon rolls. Dan will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and big heart. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Fowler.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Wolker-Pung; his children: Hannah (Brant) Schafer, Jeremy (Brooke) Pung, Kristi (Bradley) Stoddard, and Jamie Pung; his step-children: Lauren Chopp, and Gabriel Chopp, siblings: Duane (Deb) Pung, Marilyn Pung (Steve Westcott), Jim (Lisa) Pung, Denise Fox (Peter Siek), and Glenn (Rachelle) Pung; grandchildren: Emersyn, Faith, Jacob, Kennedy, Kaci, and William. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Genevieve Pung, step-son Garett Chopp, and his sister Donna White.
