Darrell "Buzz" James Brown age 80 of St. Louis, Michigan died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ St. Louis, MI on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Buzz was born in St. Louis, Michigan on December 10, 1927 the son of James and Geraldine ( Hook ) Brown. He a life long resident of St. Louis, MI. and graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1946. Buzz married Florine Bailey on February 25, 1949 in Coe Township, Michigan. Buzz was employed at Dow Chemical from 1950 - 1964. He then owned St. Louis Agency until it's merger with Lodewyk, Nesen, McKim. Buzz worked until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed his hunting camp very much and spending time with his sons and grandsons there. He also loved to camp, fish, and snowmobile. Buzz and Florine loved to spend their summers in Michigan, Alaska, Montana, & Clare as campground Hosts. Buzz was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ. He was also very active in the community where he was; one of the founders of the St. Louis Recreation Council, member of the Go Grow Gratiot Committee, coached Little League Baseball for 17 years, Little League Basketball for 8 years, Cub Scout Master for 7 years, Boy Scout Board of Review for 5 years, St. Louis Housing Commission Executive Director for 12 years, St. Louis Fire Dept. for 12 years where he was also Assistant Chief, St. Louis Chamber of Commerce for 20 years where he also served as President, St. Louis Senior Center President, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a Hunter Safety Instructor for many years with around 2, 000 students.
He is survived by his wife Florine Brown of St. Louis, MI, 7 children; Tom & Sandy Brown of St. Louis, MI, Polly & Phil Hoyt of St. Louis, MI, Dan Brown of Owosso, MI, Jane Brown & special friend Mark Yankovich of Marquette, MI, Andy & Michelle Brown of Kingsley, MI, Jim & Monica Brown of Bay City, MI, Matthew & Julie Brown of St. Louis, MI, 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Maxine Kelly of St. Louis, MI. He is predeceased by his parents.
