Darwin Hunt

Darwin Lee Hunt, age 65, of Ovid, MI passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Darwin was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 3, 1949, the son of Darwin Leon and Myrna Bell (Bolton) Hunt. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. On September 12, 1970 Darwin married Irene K. Groom in Ovid, Michigan. He worked for BOC in Lansing, Michigan retiring in 1991. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and doing woodworking. He was a member of the Ovid Lions Club and a former Cub and Boy Scout Leader. Dar was on the Ovid Park and Recreation Board and was a former baseball coach. Dar resided in Ovid, Michigan most of his life. He was a member of the Ovid Lions Club and was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 8964, Ovid, Michigan, and he was a member of United Church of Ovid.

He is survived by his wife Irene Hunt of Ovid, MI, 2 sons; Barry and Dawn Hunt of Grayling, MI, Bruce and Heather Hunt of Roscommon, MI, 5 grandchildren; Sierra, Jacob, Elizabeth, Chance, and Sarah, 1 great grandchild Bradley, and 5 brothers; David and Kathy Hunt, Dennis and Betty Hunt, Dwight and Mary Hunt, Dwayne and Brenda Hunt, Dick and Julie Hunt. He was predeceased by his parents.
