Daryl James "Dj" Root, age 43, of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Grace Bible Church on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Jerry Walden will officiate and burial will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery, Corunna, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 17, 2010 from 6-8 PM and on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI.
Dj was born in Flint, Michigan on November 30, 1966, the son of Gerald and Mary (Foley) Root. Dj resided most of his life in Corunna and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan Flint campus.
Dj married Amanda DeCaire on June 11, 2005 in Townsend, TN. He was employed by Shiawassee County Mental Health as Supervisor of Employment and Skill Building Services. Dj loved to golf, play tennis, listen to music and travel. He did a lot of charitable work in the community.
He is survived by his wife Amanda Root of Owosso, MI, daughter Isabel Root, daughter Harper on the way, mother Mary Root of Birch Run, MI, in-laws Joe and Barb DeCaire of Corunna, MI, 2 sisters; Karen Carter of Perry, MI and Rhonda Atwell of Clio, MI. 2 brothers; Tim and Debby Root of Swartz Creek, MI. Greg and Vera Root of Chesaning, MI, 3 brothers-in-law; Scot DeCaire of Lansing, MI, Brien DeCaire of Owosso, MI; Stroh and Sandra DeCaire of Utah, nieces & nephews; Aaron, Brandan, Tiffany, Amanda, Adam, Trisha, Steffany, Ashley, Taylor, Madisyn, Lilly, Micah and Lennon. Dj was preceded in death by his father Gerald Root.
