David Detraz

David "Carl" Detraz, age 81, of Perrinton, MI passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will be held at Payne Cemetery, Fulton Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Carl was born in Union County, Kentucky on July 9, 1932, the son of Roscoe Owen and Emma Mae (Walker) Detraz. He served his country in the US Navy. Carl married Mary Helen Strong on April 25, 1954; she died on November 20, 2003. Carl married Kathy K. Knight on April 15, 2005. Carl retired from General Telephone as a supervisor in 1985 after 23 years of service. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time in his garden.

Carl is survived by his wife Kathy Detraz of Perrinton, MI, 2 sons; Terry and Roxanne Detraz of Wright City, MO, Jim and Gloria Detraz of Perrinton, MI, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer and Mike Waters of Gainesville, VA, Lindsey and Terry Roberts of Wheeler, MI, Rebecca Christian of Tucson, AZ, James and Rachael Detraz of Springfield, OH, 5 great grandchildren, sister Agnes Henshaw of Henshaw, KY, and brother Dorris and Shirley Detraz of Clearwater, FL. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son Rick Detraz and 6 siblings; Roscoe, Elmer, Mae, Hazel, Frank, and Viola.
