David Hoornstra

David Hoornstra age 87, of Perrinton, MI, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at The Laurels of Fulton, Perrinton, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating.  Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery Seville Township, MI.  Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

David was born in Owosso, MI on September 3, 1929 the son of Ralph and Edith Hoornstra.  David served his country in the U.S. Army. On January 19, 1957 David married Joyce Watson in Evart, Michigan. Joyce passed away May 20, 2005.  Dave enjoyed dancing, building things and working in his yard. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1454, Alma, MI.

He is survived by his sons; Lloyd Hoornstra of Alma, MI, Michael and Peggy Hoornstra of Elwell, MI, grandchildren; Amanda Hoornstra, Michael A. Hoornstra, Tiffanie Hoornstra, Tosha Hoornstra, Josh Hoornstra, Bethany Hoornstra, Christopher Garcia, Lisa Hoornstra, and 10 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son David "Rocky" Hoornstra, and his sisters and brothers.
