David Patrick Hughes age 64 of of Corunna, MI died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Ingham Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Phil Schweda will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

David was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 11, 1942 the son of William and Phyllis ( Sherwood ) Hughes. He resided most of his life in the Durand & Corunna areas and graduated from St. Matthews Catholic School in Flint, MI. David married Evelyn J. Laisure on September 2, 1972, in Newaygo, MI. She passed away on December 24, 2006. Daivd first worked at General Motors for 30 years and then went to Delphi, in Flint, and worked as a crane operator until his retirement on February 1, 2004. He loved to fish and enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, tending to his flowers and going golfing. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso as well as a member of the UAW Local #651.

He is survived by his daughter Marcie Moore of Corunna, four grandchildren; Danny, Eric, Stephen, and Cory, sister Peggy and John Mahoney of Grand Blanc, several nieces & nephews & cousins, 3 sisters-in-law Sue and Al Bode, Doris Williams, Nila Laisure, brother-in-law Russell Laisure, and best friend Bill Belcher. He is predeceased by parents, and wife, Evelyn.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
