David James Schneider age 50, of Houghton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016 at his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born on July 20, 1966 in Owosso, Michigan to Audrey Johnson Schneider and the late James Robert Schneider. He attended the Ashley Schools in Ashley, Michigan where he was salutatorian of the Class of 1984. He also attended Michigan Tech in the Business Department, where he graduated on the Dean's list. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He worked in many local restaurants, eventually working at Hardees, working his way up to District Manager of the U.P.
He married Christine Grudnoski of Hancock on August 26, 1989, making their home in Calumet. In 2006 he settled in Ripley with his girlfriend, Angela Anderson, before moving to Houghton.
In school he played football, basketball, ran track, and was in the National Honor Society. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with family.
Besides his father, he was also preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and by several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his mother Audrey Schneider, brothers; Doug (Loretta) and Duane (Lyna), several aunts and uncles, his wife Christine Schneider and children; Jennifer, Robert, and Hannah, girlfriend Angela Anderson and children; Emily, Addison, and Alexis; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Bill Gruden officiating. Burial will be at the Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI.
