David Singer Sr

David Lyle Singer, Sr., age 78, of Elwell, MI died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at East Superior Christian Church, Alma, MI on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. Pastor Jim Amstutz will officiate, and burial will take place at Wright Cemetery in Alma, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 4-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel and also on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM, for one hour prior to services at East Superior Christian Church.

David was born in Frankton, Indiana on February 19, 1931, the son of Everett and Gladys (Holtsclaw) Singer. He grew up in Indiana, and moved to Alma when he got married. He graduated from Frankton High School in 1949, and attended Alma College and Ball State College. David married Dolores Lentz on July 8, 1951 in Alma. She preceded him in death 1n April 1997. He married Josefine Maier on December 2, 2000. He worked for Michigan Chemical, State of Michigan Agricultural Lab, and retired from Patient Equipment Locker in Alma. He loved woodworking, bird watching, fishing, and hunting. He also attended East Superior Christian Church in Alma.

He is survived by his wife Jo Singer of Elwell, MI, 2 sons; David and Carol Singer of Midland, MI, Daniel and Cynda Singer of Alma, MI, 3 stepchildren; David Taylor of Florida, Keith and Nicole Taylor of Vestaburg, MI, Audra Young of Florida, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
