Dean E. Bissell, age 76, of Shepherd, MI passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, June 6, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Dean was born in Bethany Township, Michigan on November 20, 1937, the son of George Myron and Lola Belle (Wertz) Bissell. He attended St. Louis Schools. Dean married Janet M. Travis on May 9, 1959 in Shepherd, MI; Janet preceded him in death on August 20, 2012. Dean was a lifelong resident and farmer in Jasper Township. He loved building trucks, tractors, and race cars. He enjoyed going to auction sales, watching trains, hunting, and was an avid watcher of RFDTV. Dean liked visiting with his neighbors, going to the coffee shop, and spending time at the shop with his boys.

He is survived by his son Timothy and Sara Bissell of St. Louis, MI, daughter Carmen and Scott Bajena of St. Louis, MI, daughter Kimberly and Jake Davidson of St. Louis, MI, son Robert Bissell and Trudy Pumford of St. Louis, MI, son Thomas and Wendy Bissell of St. Louis, MI, son Lee Burk of St. Louis, MI, grandchildren Adam Bissell, Amber Bissell, Alex Greenup, Megan Greenup, Madeline Greenup, Amanda Bajena, Megan Bajena, Brayden Bajena, Brittini Davidson, Kenzie Davidson, Jordan Bissell, Sheila Saurman, Destiny Wetherbee, Saige Wetherbee, 1 great grandchild Carter Byrne, 3 sisters; Wilma Sanders of Shepherd, MI, Thelma and RJ Patterson of St. Louis, MI, and Caroline and Karen Pregitzer of Onaway, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Sarah Bajena, daughter in law Shannan Bissell, 3 sisters; Lorraine and Willard Holton, Alice and John Butcher, and Reva Hillard, and brother in law Burton Sanders.
