Della Darlene Porter, age 73, of Swartz Creek, MI passed away Friday, August 20th, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Flint, Michigan. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan on Sunday, August 22nd at 4:00 P.M., Jim Hardwick will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-4 PM. at the funeral home.
Della was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 9, 1937, the daughter of Tommy V. and Geraldine (Wixom) Walters. She married Richard L. Porter on July 5, 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1984.
She was a homemaker and was one of the founding members of the Shiawassee County CB Radio Club. She enjoyed sewing, making costumes for the Owosso Community Players, even performing in one of the productions. She loved BINGO, bowling, and attending estate sales. She loved exercising her rights as the matriarch of the family. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughters Debra and Joseph Spencer of Swartz Creek, MI; Cheril Ray and Brad Wildey of Plainwell, MI; her son Robert and Sheryl Porter of Flushing, MI; her grandchildren Michael, Kristina, Zachary, Tyler, Taylor
and Tanner, her great-grandchildren Steven, Nicholas and Anna, and her sister Patsy Mullinex of Oklahoma City, OK. and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Porter, Jr.
